On April 29, 2026, WAU attended a second partner collaboration meeting, facilitated by Love Schools CEO Brandt Wilson at Washington Accelerated Learning Elementary School (Washington). The meeting was attended by the school's Principal and representatives from the following partnerships: churches, nonprofits and a business; East Minister Presbyterian Church, Pathway Church, Love Schools, Wichita African Union (WAU), and Ideatek. Each partner shared about what they are doing and planning for the near future. The school principal shared about events for the remaining portion of this school year and the beginning of 2026/2027 school year.
On May 1st, 2026, WAU attended Volunteers Breakfast at Washington together with other volunteers for the school. This was a volunteer appreciation breakfast.

May 1st, in the evening, was WAU General Membership meeting where we continued to plan for the13th WAU Annual Celebration coming up on September 5, and other programs this summer. After the meeting, we shared food and did some fellowship. We all look forward to this monthly meeting where we do the work to promote WAU nonprofit mission and also enjoy the sisterhood and brotherhood that we have within the organization.

Two-Day Certificate Magnify Workshop by NonprofitGO
WAU participated in the two-day Magnify Workshop, facilitated by NonprofitGO, May 19-20, 2026, at Wichita State University's Community Engagement Center, Farm Credit Bank Building, 245 N. Waco, Wichita, Kansas. In total eight nonprofits, including WAU, attended this intensive training, creating a rich environment for shared learning and meaningful networking. We learned a lot from NonprofitGO about the steps for starting and sustaining a successful nonprofit. The sessions covered governance, operations, budgeting, compliance and other core components of effective organizational management. This was a great workshop because of the comprehensive nature of the curriculum, combined with the small class size, which allowed for deep engagement and active participation from every attendee. We left the workshop empowered, equipped with practical knowledge, and renewed enthusiasm to guide our respective teams toward continued growth and increased impact.
