WAU would like to ask for your support in the form of collaboration, in-kind and monetary donations to help with its outreach efforts which include scholarships for students attending local colleges and universities. In the past, WAU has reached out in different areas including the following:
-
Donated food to the Lord’s Diner, downtown Wichita.
-
Donated money to the local Food Bank.
-
Donated food, clothing and bedding items to local refugees in collaboration with Norvus Orsa Ministries.

On June 19, 2023 WAU participated in Juneteenth activities at Arkansas City, Kansas as a sponsor and performed Ugandan traditional dance and drumming to share African culture. As a result WAU raised $202 for it's scholarship fund. Went back on June 15, 2024, for another African dance performance and raised $500 for its charitable programs.
-
May 2024, made a $500 charitable donation in form cash contribution towards funeral related logistical expenses for a young Burundi international student, studying at Butler Community College, who tragically died in a car accident on May 10. We help students attain educational excellence through award of scholarships, unfortunately, in this case we lost one prematurely. We felt compelled to partner with the community during the process of figuring out a budget for logistical needs surrounding the unexpected loss, far away from home.
-
WAU continues to collaborate with Kansas Department of Commerce and its other partners on matters of the Kansas Global Holiday Market since December 2023. In this partnership WAU shares African culture through traditional performances and African food.
-
In 2024 WAU connected resources to its community through partnerships. Partnered with Wichita Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc and donated 10 children blankets to International Rescue Committee (IRC) and partnered with the Outreach program and donated food to IRC. WAU also shared leadership training opportunity with the community utilizing a grant it had received from Kansas Leadership Center. Three members of the community completed two trainings each and received certificates of completion. Some WAU members also received the training.
